Building a Prosperous Bangladesh Through Education

Illiteracy is the most serious blockade for development efforts. Lack of education is both a cause and consequence of deprivation, unemployment, and uneven distribution of resources. Despite tremendous potential human resources, Bangladesh has yet to make much headway in human resource development. Widespread illiteracy remains one of the major obstacles to Bangladesh’s progress. Naturally, AMAN’s vision, of a poverty-free society cannot be achieved by keeping 30% of people illiterate. We firmly believe that mass and qualitative education only brings well-being to people’s lives. It will increase their earning capacity, working capability, and ability to control their destiny as they move further into the different levels of education. Apart from the officially declared goal of the state to ensure “Education for all by the year 2020” the organization already mobilized its human and material resources to make the national dream come true. The Universal Education program of AMAN began in 1995 to help people to learn and practice reading and writing in a manner that would be meaningful, significant, and practical by all means.

Empowering Rohingya Refugee Children Through Education and Support

AMAN is making a significant impact in the lives of 1,089 Rohingya refugee children aged 5 to 17 years by providing access to quality education at Learning Centers (LCs) established within Camp 15. These centers are designed to offer a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive despite the challenges of displacement. Recognizing the importance of holistic development, the program goes beyond traditional education by incorporating nutrition support and addressing other need-based requirements to ensure the well-being of these young learners. The educational program is tailored to meet the unique needs of the children, emphasizing basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills. It also fosters creativity, critical thinking, and emotional resilience, equipping students to navigate their current realities while preparing them for future opportunities. By integrating culturally sensitive teaching methods and employing trained facilitators, AMAN ensures that the education provided is relevant and impactful.

Additionally, the provision of nutritious meals or supplements addresses malnutrition, a common issue among refugee children, enabling them to focus better on their studies and maintain good health. The centers also offer psychosocial support and safe recreational activities, creating a positive and stable environment that promotes emotional and social well-being.

AMAN is providing quality education to 160 Rohingya refugee children aged 5 to 17 years at Learning Centers (LCs) in Camp 8E. These centers offer foundational literacy, numeracy, life skills, and creative activities tailored to the children’s needs. In addition to education, AMAN provides need-based support, including learning materials and psychosocial care, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. This initiative empowers children with knowledge, resilience, and hope, fostering their holistic development and preparing them for a brighter future despite the challenges of displacement. This initiative reflects AMAN’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, even in the face of adversity. By providing education and comprehensive support, the organization helps restore a sense of normalcy and hope for Rohingya children, empowering them with the tools they need to build brighter futures and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through this program, AMAN continues to demonstrate its dedication to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations with compassion and purpose.
